Review and Outlook on Concept "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets" at Its 20th Anniversary: Scientific Connotation, Strategic Value, and Case Study-Case Study

Abstract

As a typical old revolutionary base area county, mountainous county, and national key ecological function zone, Mengyin County has deeply implemented the concept of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” (two mountains concept), empowering the high-quality development of its peach industry through ecological means. By optimizing the ecological environment, Mengyin has laid a solid foundation for the peach industry, transforming its pristine ecology into a natural competitive advantage for industrial growth. Leveraging scientific and technological innovation, the county has driven the upgrading and extension of the peach industry chain, while simultaneously pioneering circular agriculture models and integrating tertiary industries with ecological approaches, fully unlocking ecological value within the industry. Mengyin’s distinctive high-quality development model, characterized by ecological vitality, industrial prosperity, public wealth, and sustainability (Mengyin model), provides a replicable and scalable practical paradigm for mountainous regions to implement the two mountains concept and promote high-quality economic development. Looking ahead, it is recommended to further optimize the peach cultivation model, establish a resilient market production and marketing system, and improve the construction of the industrial ecosystem, propelling Mengyin’s transformation from a major peach-producing county to a powerful peach-producing county.
