Abstract

The development of the modernization of science and technology in New China is closely linked with the modernization of the country. The study expounds the concept of science and technology modernization. Through the review of the major progress and events of the modernization of science and technology in New China, the main course of the modernization of science and technology in New China is divided into five stages: the foundation and growth of the modernization of science and technology in New China (1949–1976); the transformation in the Era of reform and opening up (1977–1994); structural adjustment and reform of science and technology system (1995–2005); system construction of scientific and technological modernization (2006–2020); and the modernization of science and technology for the construction of a modern country (2021–). The study summarizes the experience of scientific and technological modernization construction of New China in the past 75 years.
