Abstract

The development of the artificial intelligence (AI) discipline is effectively expanding the capability boundaries of AI. To explore the foundational theories and underlying core technologies for next-generation of general AI, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has formulated 20 fundamental scientific problems in AI. Centered on “disciplinary reconstruction of AI foundational theories (Y+AI)” and “AI-enabled applications of complex systems across multiple domains (AI+X)”, these problems are characterized by multiple complexities including openness, high dimensionality, high dynamism, large scale, and cross-scale properties.
